Astonia starts as a student's hobby project. At first it is a pen and paper role playing game.

The first line of code is written for Mercenaries of Astonia.

February 1999
Mercenaries of Astonia (aka Astonia V1) is finally open to the public.
July 1999
Mercenaries of Astonia (aka Astonia V2) adds a magic system to V1, along with an in-built world editor.
February 2002
Astonia 3 - The Conflict (aka Astonia V3). A full rewrite, allowing for up to 1000 players on the same shard and a much bigger world.
Astonia is now a business run by Intent Software.
August 2007
Astonia (aka The New World, aka Astonia V3.5) opens its doors. Fixing many of the problems of earlier versions it aims to be an alternative to the still running Astonia 3 - The Conflict.
February 2011
JWD - Jürgen Waibel has taken over management and support for Astonia 3 - The Conflict.
